For the last several years WaleskaUMC has participated in the MUST Summer Lunch Program. By contributing our time, money, and ingredients we have been able to provide nutritious lunches for needy children in our area while the public-school lunch program is on summer hiatus. This year, given the economic hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the need is greater than ever before. WaleskaUMC has, therefore, committed to expanding our efforts by being one of two Food Distribution Centers in our local area.
Specifics of the program are:
- Each child receives sufficient food for five lunches (an entree, 2 snacks, and a drink).
- Each child receives 2 bags: one is a cold bag the other a shelf staple bag.
- Meals are provided by Chef Advantage.
- Meals will be packaged and ready to hand out.
- Pickup is curbside from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the Waleska United Methodist Church parking lot.
- We will be using face masks and practicing social distancing.
