Sanctuary Worship and COVID Procedures

We are excited to resume indoor worship in the Sanctuary on Sunday, October 11 at 10:30 am. The Health and Safety Committee of WUMC has worked diligently preparing procedures for indoor worship, and they have worked with a local company to sanitize the Sanctuary on Fridays in preparation for Sunday worship. We have seen marked improvement in the number of new cases of COVID-19 in our community, and we have learned a great deal about how to mitigate the risks of being together in worship.

Worship Procedures

WORSHIP SERVICE
Worship in the Sanctuary will begin Sunday, October 11 at 10:30 am.

MASKS
Everyone attending or participating in worship must wear a face covering.  Please bring your own mask. If you forget, one will be available in the Narthex.

SOCIAL DISTANCING
Please maintain 6 feet physical distance from others, even outside as you are coming into the Sanctuary. Please refrain from physical contact such as handshakes or hugs.

ENHANCED SANITATION PROCEDURES
The Sanctuary will be sanitized the Friday before worship by a local company.  The church will also be well-stocked with hand sanitizer, soap and paper towels, as well as sanitizing high-touch areas.

ENTRY/EXIT
Please enter using the front entrance of the church. We will exit the worship service by row, starting in the rear of the Sanctuary.

SEATING
Please be seated every other pew and be appropriately distanced. Pews will be marked off.

BULLETINS
Bulletins will be available as you arrive for worship. Bulletins also will contain a Connect Card. Everyone is asked to complete the connect card and leave it in the pew to have an accurate record of attendance.  Hymnals, Bibles and pew cards have been removed at this time. All worship information will be listed in the bulletin.

GIVING
Offering plates will be available at the Sanctuary doors. You may leave your offering in the plate as you arrive or as you leave.

CHILDREN
Children are encouraged to join in worship with their families. The nursery will not be provided at this time. As we acclimate, we will look into opening childcare.

HOLY COMMUNION
Holy Communion will be served on the first Sunday of each month as we celebrate the grace and presence of Christ through the bread and cup.  Prefilled communion elements have been purchased and will be used for services.

ONLINE WORSHIP
Not ready to return? That’s okay! Online worship will continue on our church’s website, our YouTube page, and on our Facebook page.  The service is posted Sunday mornings at 8 am.

FEELING ILL?
Please stay home if you feel ill, or are ill.  Cover all coughs and sneezes with your arm, even when masked.  Learn more about the symptoms of Covid-19 at CDC.gov.
