Would you like to be an angel for some little angels this Christmas? This coming Sunday, there’s a small tree with angel ornaments in our sanctuary. On each of the ornaments is a child’s name and one wish for Christmas. One of the most heart-warming Christmas traditions at WUMC is stripping the ornaments from this tree as members of the congregation take the ornaments from the tree and go shopping for the children.
There are 10 families with 21 children on our tree this year. A food box will also be given to each family as well as the gifts. We also have 4 families with no children that we would like to give a food box. You may also contribute funds for the food boxes. Just remember to mark it Angel Tree Food. Each child will receive eight gifts (pants, shirt, shoes, socks, underwear, coat, and two toys). This year the wrapped (or bagged) presents will be due back at the church (with the angel tree tags attached) by Sunday, December 20. We need people here to welcome them and help load their package and food boxes. You will receive such a blessing! Words cannot express that feeling. Shopping can be done for you if you would like to donate, just put on your check or envelope “Angel Tree”. For more information contact Mary Helen Lamb at 678-386-9002. You are so much appreciated!
Why are there blue angels on the Angel Tree? These belong to two veterans that live alone and would not have a Christmas otherwise. Thank you, Cherokee County Adopt-a-Vet, for this opportunity. Veteran’s gifts are due back Dec 16. Contact Wendy Hatfield 770-842-3006 Outreach@waleskaumc.org with any questions.
